From 25 July 2025, the UK’s Online Safety Act requires all adult and harmful-content sites to deploy robust age checks—ID scans, credit-card verification or AI face-age tools—to keep under-18s safe. Ofcom will audit compliance across social apps, search engines and gaming platforms and can fine offenders up to £18 million or 10 percent of global turnover.
