When the Sevenoaks Town Housing Department placed me in emergency accommodation, they ensured I was far from Sevenoaks, isolating me in Rochester, Strood. The property lacked mobile signal or connectivity due to energy-efficient windows and thick brick walls. This made it impossible to contact emergency services, support networks, or even respond to urgent council emails.
By placing residents far away and ensuring they remain unheard, the council creates a deliberate system of isolation, leaving vulnerable individuals without the tools to advocate for themselves. Connectivity is not a luxury—it’s a basic necessity for safety, support, and recovery.
